Enabling 2-Step Verification

Enabling 2 Step Verification adds a second layer of security to your Sequencing account, so signing in requires both your password and a one time code from an authenticator app. You will need a mobile device with an authenticator app installed, such as Google Authenticator, LastPass Authenticator, or Authy. The steps below use Google Authenticator as the example.

Before you start

Install an authenticator app on your mobile device if you do not already have one. Then sign in to your Sequencing account and go to the Sign In Options tab, found under Settings.

Steps to enable 2 Step Verification

  1. Move the toggle switch from Disabled to Enabled. A QR code will appear on your screen.
  2. Open your authenticator app on your mobile device and choose Set up account. In some apps this option is found under the main menu.
  3. Choose Scan a barcode or Scan a QR code.
  4. Use your phone to scan the QR code that appeared in step 1. When the scan succeeds, your Sequencing account is added to your authenticator app.
  5. Back on the same Sequencing page, enter the six digit code shown in your authenticator app and select Verify.

Once verified, 2 Step Verification is active. From now on you will enter a six digit code from your authenticator app each time you sign in.

What if the code does not work?

Codes refresh every 30 seconds, so enter the current one before it changes. If the code is rejected, confirm you are entering the code listed for your Sequencing account in the app, since the app may hold codes for several accounts. If it still fails, generate a fresh code and try again.
