The Sequencing Partner Marketplace is a digital marketplace of free and paid apps that interpret genetic data. Apps span categories including health, ancestry, and nutrition, and they accept raw data from the leading consumer genetic tests as well as clinical laboratories.

What is raw DNA data interpretation?

Raw DNA data interpretation is the process of analyzing the genetic information in your data file and turning it into something meaningful. An app reviews your genetic information, compares it against scientific research, and returns a report. Those reports can tell you useful things about your health and the genetic conditions you or your family may be predisposed to.

How do I start?

First, upload your data through the Upload Center. Select your file from your computer and upload it. If you do not yet have a file, you can learn about whole genome sequencing, which reads 100% of your DNA. Once your data is in your account, you can start running apps on it.

Examples of DNA apps

The Partner Marketplace contains a wide range of apps for analyzing your DNA across health, wellness, genealogy, and more. Four are described below, and you can browse the full catalog any time in the Partner Marketplace.

Genome Explorer

While you can use any app in the marketplace for raw DNA data interpretation, a good free starting point is Genome Explorer. It lets you view and search your genetic variants, and explore the associations between your genetic data and various conditions, traits, and medication responses.

Genetic Counseling

In depth genetic results can be confusing. If you would like help making sense of them, the Genetic Counseling app, made by DNAVisit, connects you with a genetic counselor who can discuss your DNA results with you and answer your questions. It is a good option when you want professional guidance rather than only a report.

Wellness and Longevity

The Wellness and Longevity app, made by App MD, interprets your data and returns a straightforward, actionable report focused on protecting and optimizing your health. It does not review every variant the way a data exploration tool does, but in exchange it is simpler to use. It covers areas such as athletic performance and a medication assessment, along with insights into a range of common health risks.

Healthcare Pro

If you want a more clinical level of detail, the Healthcare Pro app, also made by App MD, is built for that. It is best suited to people with a healthcare background or experience interpreting genetic results. Healthcare Pro and Wellness and Longevity provide similar analysis, with two main differences:

1. Healthcare Pro is designed for healthcare professionals, so its report uses clinical language. If you are a physician, nurse, or genetic counselor, it will speak your language. If you are not in the healthcare field, Wellness and Longevity is the better fit.
2. Healthcare Pro includes an extensive analysis of rare diseases, conditions, and traits. That same rare disease analysis is also available on its own as the Next-Gen Disease Screen.

Beyond the report and rare disease analysis, Healthcare Pro results include detail on the specific genes and variants analyzed, along with the medical references linking each variant to a disease, medication response, or trait.
