How to Upload 23andMe Data to Sequencing.com

Updated 2026. Note: 23andMe filed for bankruptcy in 2025 and was acquired by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. If the download steps below differ from what you see in your 23andMe account, this reflects changes made under new ownership. The process for uploading your raw data file to Sequencing remains the same regardless of where your data comes from.

If you tested with 23andMe, your raw DNA data file is compatible with all apps and AI Reports in the Partner Marketplace. Uploading it to Sequencing is free, takes only a few minutes, and gives you access to hundreds of reports across health, nutrition, fitness, pharmacogenomics, and more, covering up to 100% of your DNA across over 30,000 genes.

Step 1: Download your raw DNA data from 23andMe

  1. Sign in to your 23andMe account and go to you.23andme.com/tools/data.
  2. Click Download, then scroll to the bottom of the page and click Submit Request.
  3. Follow the instructions 23andMe provides to download your raw DNA data file to your computer. The file will typically be a .zip file.
  4. If your 23andMe account contains data for more than one person, download a raw data file for each profile separately.

You do not need to open, extract, or modify the file in any way before uploading it to Sequencing.

Step 2: Upload your raw DNA data to Sequencing

  1. Go to the Upload Center on Sequencing.
  2. Select Upload from My Computer and choose the 23andMe file you just downloaded. Upload the file exactly as it was downloaded, without modifying it.
  3. Click Upload. Your file will be securely uploaded to your Sequencing account. It may take up to 10 minutes before the file appears.
  4. If you downloaded files for multiple profiles, repeat the upload steps for each one.

What can you do with your 23andMe data on Sequencing?

Once your data is uploaded and your Genome is ready in your account, you can immediately start using apps and AI Reports in the Partner Marketplace. Your 23andMe data is compatible with all categories, including:

  • Health risk and preventive health reports
  • Pharmacogenomics (how your genes affect medication response)
  • Nutrition and diet personalization
  • Fitness and athletic performance traits
  • Rare disease screening
  • Ancestry and heritage
  • Children's genetic insights
  • Bioinformatics tools for researchers

Some reports are free and others are premium. Free reports run at no cost, and premium reports show the price before you confirm. You can run as many reports as you like on the same Genome.

Is my data safe and private?

Your genetic data belongs to you. Sequencing stores all uploaded data under a Privacy Forever policy: it is never sold to third parties, and you can delete it at any time. The platform is HIPAA compliant with encryption and access controls protecting your files. Given what happened with 23andMe's bankruptcy, Sequencing's data ownership model ensures your data remains under your control regardless of any business changes.

Already have data from other providers?

Sequencing accepts raw DNA data from virtually any genetic testing company or laboratory, including AncestryDNA, MyHeritage, FamilyTreeDNA, Dante Labs, Nebula Genomics, and many others, as well as clinical formats from whole genome and exome sequencing. See Upload My DNA Data for Free in the Knowledge Center for provider specific instructions.
