My profile
The My Profile tab of your Settings page is divided into two sections. The top section allows you to modify your username, password, profile picture and first and last name.
- You may log into your Sequencing.com using your username or email address.
- Your username will also appear whenever you post a message, such as the Genomes-in-Need message boards.
- When we send you notifications, we like to greet you by name, which is why we ask for your first and last name.
The bottom section of My Profile allows you to select one or more personas that best indicate who you are. We use this information to tailor Sequencing.com to you.
For example, if you indicate that you are a ‘Researcher,’ the site will provide content in more technical terms that researchers are familiar with and you’ll also have access to a much wider selection of Sample Files. The names of the sample files will even appear according to the nomenclature and format that researchers are used to seeing.
If, however, you indicate that you are both an ‘Individual or Family’ and a ‘Student’ then the site will customize itself to you and provide content that is non-technical and more accessible to people who may not be very familiar with genetics.
